How can you ask guests not to post wedding photos online?

Ask early and kindly, on the invitation and again on the day, and give guests a private place to share their photos instead. In our gallery the couple chooses whether guests can post straight away, from midday the day after, or not at all, and every Share button follows that choice.

Set up your wedding

Say it early, and say it kindly

  • On the invitation or website: “We’d love you to share your photos with us, but please don’t post them online until we have.”
  • On the day: a line on the table cards, and a word from whoever hosts.

Give guests somewhere else to share

Guests post because they want to share what they saw. A gallery for the wedding gives them a place to do that, and the couple sees every photo.

  • Before the day, the couple chooses: guests can post on social media straight away, from midday the day after, or not at all.
  • Guests see the couple’s wish as soon as they open the gallery.
  • Until sharing opens, Share offers private messages only, with a reminder at midday for guests who want one.
  • The rule covers every Share button: single photos, reels and the couple’s memories video.

Questions

Can an app stop guests posting photos?
No app can stop someone taking a screenshot or posting from their own camera roll. What it can do is make the private way the easy one, and say what the couple wants.
Can guests still send photos to each other?
Yes. Sending a photo privately, by message, and saving it always work. Only the social media apps wait.
What is an unplugged ceremony?
One where guests put their phones away for the ceremony and leave the photos to the photographer. Many couples ask for one and leave the party open.
